Lyrics
6 am the alarm clock rings, was a dark & stormy Sunday
Put on my dress & then I sang, Amazing Grace goin’ to church today
Got in my car, went down the street, to the church that I’d seen on tv
The orchestra tuned, I took my seat,
a tv camera spotted a woman who weeped
The preacher came out, at a quick pace, singing at the top of his lungs
A camera focused in on me I hid my face, not sure what was to come
There was something real, he was larger than life,
Like an actor that floats across the stage, then he walked up to me
Got down on his knee and he looked me in the eyes
I SAW CHRIST IN THAT PREACHERS EYES
HE LOOKED RIGHT THROUGH ME & I COULDN’T HIDE
MY HEART WAS EXPOSED, BUT I DIDN’T KNOW
WHAT I WAS FEELING INSIDE
I SAW CHRIST IN THAT PREACHERS EYES
I FELL DOWN ON MY KNEES BEGAN TO CRY
JESUS FILLED THAT SPACE THAT WAS AN EMPTY PLACE
NOW I’VE GOT PEACE & JOY
I SAW CHRIST IN HIS EYES
I looked up at the man, he smiled and said,
you got a touch from the Masters hand
I tried to speak but nothing came out I was shaking beyond belief
He lifted me up onto my feet & held me in his arms
He backed up & said Jesus is here as he looked me in the eyes
I SAW CHRIST IN THAT PREACHERS EYES
