Good Morning everyone on this Monday morning Aug 30, 2021
Ahh the start of another week, yet we’re heading into September. The summer is still in full swing with the temperatures soaring in the Bay Area, but fall is on its way. Soon the leaves will start turning that incredible orange color. We’re in for a seasonal change. Are you going through one? I’m not speaking of nature’s seasonal changes; I’m speaking about our seasonal changes personally. These last couple years have been crazy with a pandemic loose in the world. We are caught up on, is this really happening or is this another as bad as the news says? Or is there a personal challenge, a hurricane maybe a real physical hurricane or a personal hurricane or storm that is kicking you around. Last November, I came very close to losing my husband of 38 years. He had a major health concern, and it took about 9 months to finally get his health back, glory to God. The turmoil of all of that is a hurricane with winds that thrash you around with what ifs, will he be ok, how do I keep my business alive when it’s been shut down for over a year. You know what I’m talking about. We all have stories that can curl your hair. When you think you’ve got problems, look around there’s people with more serious issues. Believe me, I’m no expert. I’m one of those workhorse musicians that’s had some serious ups and downs and what I’m about to say has been a major game changer. With many seasons rolled into more seasons obviously more winters than spring or summer, this IS the game changer.
I’m proposing this; a challenge. Spend some time in a quiet area, have the Sword of the Spirit, the Bible in your hand, close your eyes, take deep breaths, and talk to Abba Father. Dad. Our heavenly Father. Talk to Him like you talk to someone you love. Not those big ol’ holier than thou words but just sit and talk. Confess your sins (we’ve all done them), and ask for forgiveness, forgive others (sometimes easier said than done but a commandment).
Mark 11:25-26 "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses."
Then tell Him what your season is. What IS on your heart today. What IS on your mind today. Give Him your heart.
Be Still and know I am God
Psalm 46:10 Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth!
Listen to the still, small voice
1 Kings 19:12 (NIV) And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire [a sound of gentle stillness and] a still, small voice.
Don’t let your heart be troubled
John 14:1-3 Do not let your hearts be troubled (distressed, agitated). You believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely on God; believe in and adhere to and trust in and rely also on Me.
2 In My Father’s house there are many dwelling places (homes). If it were not so, I would have told you; for I am going away to prepare a place for you.
3 And when (if) I go and make ready a place for you, I will come back again and will take you to Myself, that where I am you may be also.
You may find yourself doing this but instead of doing a lot of talking, I mean He already knows what you’re going through, just sit and listen. Sometimes He leads to Scripture. That’s why I say have the sword of the Spirit with you. Let Him give you The Peace that surpasses all understanding.
Phil 4:6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.
He and He alone will calm you, give you sure steps, lead you where you need to go.
This has completely worked for me for years and I can still get up in the morning with a smile on my face, have a spring in my step. Having faith in God and believing what the Bible says, IS the master key to survival in this world.
